The Student Health and Wellness Advisory Board is a dynamic group of University of Utah students committed to advancing health, wellness, accessibility, and well-being across campus.
Serving as a student-centered think tank, the board works directly with university leadership and executive teams across Student Health and Wellness to provide fresh perspectives, authentic student stories, and strategic insight.

The Student Health & Wellness Advisory Board brings students together to shape the programs, policies, and services that impact wellbeing at the University of Utah. Members advise the Associate Vice President for Health & Wellness and help lead a year‑long project focused on improving student access to health and wellness services
Why Join the Advisory Board?
Board members play a meaningful role in improving the student experience. As part of the team, you will:
- Provide direct input to campus leadership
- Help identify barriers to accessing health & wellness services
- Contribute to a campuswide improvement project
- Build leadership, research, and project management skills
- Complete a résumé‑ready deliverable
- Connect with peers and campus professionals
What You'll Do
Members attend monthly meetings, participate in a working group, and contribute 2–4 hours of project work each month. This commitment is designed to fit student schedules
Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month (food provided):

- Nov 11
- Dec 9
- Jan 14 or 21
- Feb 10
- Mar 10
- Mar 25 – Final Presentation Day
*Date may shift based on class schedules
Annual Project Focus: Improving Student Access 🔗
This year, the board will lead a student‑driven project examining how students find, reach, and use health and wellness services. Members will help identify barriers, evaluate communication, and develop recommendations presented to the AVP in March.
Who We're Looking For
Students who are:
⭐ Interested in health, wellness, or student advocacy
⭐ Ready to collaborate and share ideas
⭐ Excited to improve the campus experience for their peers
All majors and backgrounds welcome!

Eligibility requirements
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at the University of Utah
- In good academic standing and able to actively participate throughout the academic year
Required application materials
- Personal Statement: Write a personal statement (300-500 words) telling us why you want to join the board and how you hope to help share the story of student health and wellness at the U.
Commitment
- Attend monthly 1.5–2 hour meetings (food included!)
- Engage in wellness-related initiatives and special projects
- Serve as a wellness ambassador, helping promote programs and resources
- Term: August–May (students may serve multiple terms with continued engagement)
